Maureen Catherine Hoffman passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at the age of 86, in San Jose, California.
Born on May 12, 1939, Maureen graduated from Notre Dame High School in San Jose and later worked in the travel department at AAA, where she shared her passion for exploring with others. She enjoyed spending time with family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as they brought her so much joy.
Maureen was known for her warm smile, infectious laugh, and genuine interest in the lives of those around her. Her sense of humor, and loving nature left a lasting impact on everyone she met. A true adventurer, Maureen delighted in discovering new cuisines and enjoying her favorite beverages—dirty martini, wine, and margaritas at Jalisco's.
She is survived by her children, Jodine Kaeding and Marvin Hoffman; grandchildren Lea, Jay and Tanner; great grandchildren Colton, Everly and Sage. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry J. and Mary E. Schmidt, and her brothers, Marvin and Ronald Schmidt.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 7, at 11:30 a.m. at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St., Santa Clara, CA. A celebration of life to follow immediately at 12:30 at the American Legion Hall, 958 Homestead Rd., Santa Clara, CA.
