Maureen Virginia Kosanovich

Maureen Virginia Kosanovich, 89, of Lombard, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 5, 2026.

Born February 3, 1937, in Newark, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Mitchell William Dulian and Agnes Gertrude Graney. She was the youngest of four daughters and spent her early childhood in Albany, New York before moving to Oak Park, Illinois in 1948. She graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School and attended Rosary College before completing her degree at Drake University in 1959.

While teaching at Longfellow Elementary School in Oak Park, she met her future husband, Philip Stephen Kosanovich on a blind date. A year later they were married July 15, 1961. In 1969 they moved to Lombard, where they lived for 53 years and raised their four children.

Maureen later returned to teaching as a substitute in District 45 in Lombard and Villa Park. In 1985 she became a fifth-grade teacher at Ranch View Elementary School, retiring in 1999.

She was active in the PTA, Lombard Pool Pals and the Lombard Service League. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, attending church, and supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s athletic events and activities.

She is survived by her daughters, Julie and Lisa; her sons, Stephen (Nancy) and Peter (Kimberly); and her grandchildren, Shelby (Zach), Carson, Jack, Cole, Elliana, and Cooper.

Maureen’s life was a quiet example of love, faith, and service, and her legacy will live on in the family she raised, the students she taught, and the many lives she touched.
