Werder, Maureen Patricia (Terry), passed away in Framingham, MA, surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the age of 82.
Maureen was born on September 25, 1943, in East Boston to William J. Terry and Mary (Stewart) Terry. She grew up primarily in Winthrop and Newton, MA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law, Doris and Howard Werder, her brother, Anthony Terry and her great nephew, Robert F. Terry, Jr.
Maureen shared an extraordinary 51 years of marriage with the love of her life, Robert Werder of Honeoye, NY. It was partnership marked by unwavering devotion, compassionate care, laughter, adventures and many wonderful travels. Together with their many treasured pets, they built a beautiful life spent mostly in the Chicago area, as well as Palm Coast, FL.
Maureen’s faith was of the utmost importance in her life, as was evidenced by her years spent serving many charities. She was an extremely caring, generous and faithful person. This faith served as a guiding light in all she did, and it was reflected in the love, kindness and compassion she showed to everyone around her.
An enthusiastic student and lifelong learner, Maureen was a graduate of Our Lady Help of Christians High School and Cardinal Cushing College. Maureen loved swimming and spent many wonderful years at her summer homes in Wolfeboro, NH and Varna, IL. She also loved preparing for and celebrating Christmas. Her gifts were always the first ones to arrive to her loved ones, and she made annual trips from Chicago to Boston to share holiday time with family. Maureen will be remembered for her vivacious spirit, deep faith, love of animals and her special relationships with family members and friends.
Maureen is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Robert Werder and her many siblings including her brother, William J. Terry, Jr. and his wife, Maureen (of Burlington, MA), her sister Theresa MacDonald and her husband, Richard (of West Roxbury, MA), her sister Mary Ellen Myles and her husband, Kevin (of Wrentham, MA), her brother John Terry and his wife, Mary (of Sutton, MA), her brother Michael Terry and his wife, Denise (of Dover, NH) and her brother Paul Terry and his wife, Astrid (of Melrose, MA).
Maureen is also survived by many sisters/brothers-in-law including Dorothy Terry, Donna Wood, David and Linda Werder, and John and Judy Werder. Maureen was the proud aunt of dozens of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was also blessed with several loving cousins.
A very special thanks to those who cared for Maureen so compassionately over the years. She was blessed to be surrounded by particularly devoted family members in her husband Robert, her sisters Theresa and Mary Ellen, and her Goddaughter Rosemary, as well as many dedicated healthcare workers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28th at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureen’s memory to The Robert F. Terry, Jr. Foundation, a cause very dear to Maureen’s heart. https://www.robertfterryjrfoundation.org/
