Maurice Harrison "Mac" McElreath passed away on August 27, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. He was 78 years old.
Born on December 5, 1946, in Greenville, Texas, Mac began a life marked by dedication, service, and craftsmanship. On July 1, 1969, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in his hometown of Greenville. Over the next several years, he served with distinction and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT), E5. His military journey concluded on August 16, 1973, when he was honorably discharged in Tucson, Arizona—a city that would become his lifelong home.
It was in Tucson that Mac discovered his professional calling. Drawing from skills he developed during his time in the Air Force, he built a successful career as an air conditioning and heating technician. For over four decades, he worked throughout Arizona with diligence and pride before eventually retiring. His work not only supported his family but also contributed to the comfort and well-being of countless homes and businesses across the state.
Mac's life was deeply rooted in family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cathy D. McElreath; his daughter, April McElreath-Whitstone; his son, Christopher McElreath; and five cherished grandchildren. To them and many others who knew him, Mac was a loving and supportive husband and father whose presence brought warmth and strength.
Outside of work and family life, Mac found joy in simple pleasures. He had a passion for playing pool—a game that reflected both his competitive spirit and easygoing nature. He also loved taking pictures, capturing moments that told stories of everyday beauty and connection.
Mac's legacy is one of service—to his country, to his community through skilled labor, and most importantly to those he held dear. His memory will live on through the lives he touched with kindness and quiet strength.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
