Maxine Doris Moore

1933 - 2025

Maxine Doris Moore (White), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in Lafayette, California. Born on February 6, 1933, in Modesto, California, to Roy Graydon Moore and Grace Harriet White (Rickard), Maxine grew up in Ceres, CA alongside her brother, Norm White.

Maxine met her devoted husband, James Irvin Moore, in San Jose, California. They married on March 18, 1955, in Willow Glen, California, with the ceremony officiated by Jim's father, Louis Moore. Together, they built a life centered on family and adventure, first living in San Francisco and later in Walnut Creek, raising three sons and welcoming six cherished grandchildren into their lives.

A graduate of North Hollywood High School (Class of 1951), Maxine attended San Jose Junior College before beginning her career as a receptionist and dental assistant at Dr. Calvert's office in San Jose, also inspiring Jim to pursue a career in dentistry himself.

Maxine's fondest memories included time spent at her Grandpa White's farm, where she developed a lifelong love of horses and the outdoors. She enjoyed ceramics, scrapbooking, travel, attending local performances, reading, and, above all, family life. Maxine was a nurturing mother to Stephen (Steve) Jay Moore, Michael (Mike) Louis Moore, and Daniel (Dan) James Moore, creating a close-knit, loving family environment, where countless fond memories were made. She treasured adventures around the world with Jim, RV trips, and time at Lake Tahoe, as well as special moments with her brother Norm, his wife Mokihana, and their daughters Jennifer and Lisa.

Maxine's greatest joy was being "Grandma" to Dylan, Kyle, Lydia, Ryan, Sara, and Thomas. Her love, optimism, generosity, and radiant smile touched everyone she met. She was a woman of profound kindness and humility who lived by her own written words: "Family is comfort, love, and security to the soul."

Maxine will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
