He was the beloved son of the late Rahim and Fatemah, and the devoted husband of his cherished wife, Cheryl Curtis, who passed away in 2020. Mehdi carried her memory with him always, and their bond remained an enduring part of his life. He is survived by three siblings, three nieces, and one nephew.
Mehdi was a calm and thoughtful man. He loved reading, enjoyed music, and played the guitar. Gardening and traveling brought him peace.
Mehdi enjoyed photography and liked capturing meaningful moments. He was kind and creative, and his presence brought comfort to those around him.
On Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 5:45 PM Eastern Time, Mehdi left this world calmly and with dignity. He passed while his hands were held by his niece and nephew, surrounded by love and peace.
In a final act of generosity, Mehdi donated his body to medical education and scientific research at the University of South Carolina, allowing his legacy to continue through learning and service to others.
