We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of Melissa Sue Ragan on November 27, 2025, at the age of 40. A beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, she was born on October 29, 1985, in Woodland, California, and raised in Placerville. In the last few years, she spent time in Coos Bay, Oregon, where she enjoyed the beauty of the coast. Melissa was cherished for her generous heart, infectious laughter, and adventurous spirit. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel valued and cared for, offering kindness, support, and a welcoming presence that left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Melissa is survived by her loving mother and stepfather, Karin and Anthony Magnes, and her father, Kenneth Ragan. She was the devoted mother of Makayla Keri Magnes Ragan, Elizabeth Ann Stepps, Jasmin Rose Beebe (Randy Joseph Beebe), Alexander James Stepps, Ethan Alexander Stepps, and Bentley Kramer, and the proud grandmother of Stella Kinslow.

She is also survived by her siblings, Kenneth Ragan Jr.(Kayla), Jeanette Balastrieri (Matthew), Branden Magnes, and Robert Ragan, as well as her nieces and nephews, Kaydence Ragan, Kassidy Ragan, Landon MacDonald, and Max Balastrieri.

Melissa is further survived by her grandfather and step-grandmother, Robert and Darla Young; her grandmother Judy Ellwood; and her aunts and uncles, Pat and Richie Turner, Linda and Dean Webster, Tammy and Nick Koski, and Robert and Tammy Sorenson, along with many cousins.

Melissa was a devoted and loving mother who spent countless hours supporting her children in the sports and activities they loved, serving as their biggest cheerleader in everything from softball and football to mini sprint car racing. She had a deep affection for her animals, including her cats, dogs, and cherished grand dog. Melissa also found joy in the simple pleasures and adventures of life, from collecting seashells and rocks to watching sunsets, riding dirt bikes and quads, exploring the dunes in the sand rail with her stepfather, and fishing on the ocean. Her energy, warmth, and generosity touched everyone who knew her, leaving a lasting impression. Melissa will be deeply missed. Her radiant spirit, boundless love, and unwavering devotion to family and friends will live on in their hearts forever.

A memorial service will be held on February 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Solid Rock Faith, 6205 Enterprise Dr., Diamond Springs, CA 95619.

To celebrate a hobby Melissa loved, the family asks guests to bring a painted rock to the service. During the gathering, these rocks will be exchanged in her memory. This simple exchange reflects the way Melissa shared pieces of herself with the people she loved, giving everyone a small keepsake to remember her bright spirit.

"He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever."
