Meyer Bleshman died on February 19th, 2026 at Dorot Geriatric Medical Center in Netanya, Israel, following a long illness. Meyer was born and raised in South Philadelphia and for many years owned and operated Bleshman Jewelers on Jewelers Row. Later he renamed the business as the Gold Connection and opened a second store in Haddonfield, New Jersey. After retiring from his businesses, he moved to Israel in 2005 where he established many new friends and welcomed visits from family and old friends.
Meyer is survived by his daughter, Adria Filmore, his grandsons Zachary Filmore and Joshua Filmore, his sister, Lenore Starker, nephew Alan Starker and niece Gwen Soler, his longtime companion, Jeanette Peskin, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia and Charles, and his former wife, Cynthia.
Meyer was a faithful Philly sports fan and a season ticket holder for the Flyers during the 'good years'. Despite living in Israel, he kept track of his Philly sports teams and always enjoyed debating why Wilt Chamberlain was a better basketballer than Lew Alcindor.
Burial was at Netanya Shikun Vatikim Cemetery on February 20th, 2026.
