Michael Apolaro

1957 - 2025

Michael Apolaro, 68, of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025. He was born on August 28, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Michael and Helen Apolaro.

Michael lived a life rooted in family, loyalty, and quiet strength. Stoic and brave, he was the rock his loved ones could always rely on. Yet those who knew him well also saw his fun sense of humor and the joy he found in good food, sports, and the laughter of family and friends gathered close.

He was immensely proud of his career as a high school football official, working countless games over many years, including several state championships. While most people kept their eyes on the play, Michael was always watching the officials, appreciating the precision and heart behind every call. He also took great pride in his craftsmanship as a tile setter, contributing his skill and artistry to numerous beautiful home renovations throughout his life.

Michael cherished his family above all. He is survived by his wife, Sophie Apolaro; his children Stefanie McLeod (Travis), Michael Apolaro, and Michelle Preston (Robert); and his grandchildren AnnaBelle, Colin, and Olivia, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He is also lovingly remembered by Erin Walker and her daughters, Cameron and Kendall, who held a special place in his heart. Michael is further survived by his siblings Kevin Apolaro, Annmarie Apolaro-Sudol, and Diane Nay, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

He will be remembered as a protective father, a proud grandfather, a trusted friend, and a devoted official who gave his best in every role he held. His legacy will live on through the memories shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he leaves behind.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 7, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at The Mansion at Tuckahoe: 1707 NE Indian River Dr, Jensen Beach, FL 34957. Friends and family are invited to attend and share stories, laughter, and love in honor of Michael’s life.
