Michael S. Clapp, defined by quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and a deep sense of duty, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026 at the age of 81.

Born in Washington State to Kenneth and Helen Clapp, Michael's life reflected service and devotion. At Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI, he met Kay, who became his wife and lifelong partner. Their nearly six-decade marriage was built on loyalty, love, and shared values.

Michael served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star for meritorious service. Serving his country gave him a deep sense of pride that followed him through his life.

After his military service, Michael continued to serve his country by joining the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Field Agent. He served with quiet pride and deep respect for the Bureau's mission.

In 1973, Mike and Kay settled in Kirksville, Missouri, the place they called home for the next 53 years. They celebrated 58 years of marriage, sharing two children, four grandchildren, three dogs, and numerous friends and family.

Mike will be remembered as a dedicated public servant, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His legacy of strength and integrity remains with all who were fortunate to know him.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Kay; his children and grandchildren, Sean Clapp (Alexis Clapp, Elizabeth Clapp, Owen Clapp), and Erin Anderson (Anthony Harris and wife Bailey)

A service will be held later this year. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Hospice House, Kansas City, MO, or Midwest Transplant Network.
