Michael John Hibbeler, born August 3, 1958 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away on January 13, 2026 at his home in Tucson, Arizona. His early years included excelling at sports and school. He was an accomplished diver when he was young and later, while attending Mandeville High School, became something of a local legend for his skills in playing tennis and basketball. He also served as tennis pro at Covington Country Club in Covington, Louisiana. After high school, Michael went on to follow in his father's footsteps and attend LSU in Baton Rouge. He later graduated from USL in Lafayette and went on to obtain his RN. Michael worked in psych nursing, always passionate about caring for others - which compassion for others was reflected throughout Michael's lifetime.

An avid LSU fan, he enjoyed talking stats, plays, recruiting and coaching - all things SEC - with his dad and three brothers. He took pride in his Louisiana heritage and its culture and loved to cook gumbo, boil crab and shrimp (freshly caught by him), jambalaya and other fine dishes for his family and friends. Michael was well known for his quick wit and was his family's "new word-term" generator, coming up with expressions often characterized with a Cajun twist. Michael loved to go thrift shopping and antiquing, having a creative eye for picking out beautiful pieces. He also found great joy in fishing, traveling (especially to fabulous Las Vegas) visiting and talking with his life-long friends and otherwise spending time with his family, including his extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles in Arkansas.

Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Wade Hibbeler, and his mother-in-law, Marvel Dulmage. He is survived by his partner, Rick Dulmage, his mother and father, John and Joann Hibbeler, his siblings, Scott, Jeff and Jennifer Hibbeler. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews - whom he adored - Carly, John Christian, Jacob, Erin, Sophia, Austin, Isabella, Emma, Victoria and Samuel as well as his sisters-in-law, Shelley, Penny and Aurora.

Michael loved life and he loved his family and friends. He will be remembered as one of the kindest, gentlest souls to ever walk this earth.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Michael's favorite charities - Goodwill and The Salvation Army.
