Michael Tameo Higashi, 78, of Los Angeles, California, passed away on October 26, 2025, with his children by his side.
Born and raised on the island of Kauai, Hawai'i, Michael carried the spirit of home with him throughout his life. Although he spent the majority of his years in Southern California, Kauai always remained a core part of who he was.
Michael proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. His love for his country was unwavering, and his service shaped the quiet strength and steady humility that defined him.
He built a long and respected career as a Sales Account Manager in the legal field, supporting attorneys and law firms with dedication and integrity. Outside of work, he loved golf, political conversations, sharing stories, laughing with friends, and being with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter Emily Vidal (Noah), his son Lucas Higashi (Rose); his sister Elaine (Spencer-dec) Tada, and his grandsons Owen Vidal and Haven Higashi.
Michael will be remembered for his generosity, his steady presence, and the quiet, warm way he cared for those he loved. Though simple, reserved, and soft-spoken, he was never without a quick laugh or smirk — a small gesture that said more than words. He will be deeply missed as a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Per his wishes, there will be no service or funeral. His family invites those who knew him to honor his memory in their own meaningful ways — with a story, a smile, or a moment of kindness, just as he would have wanted.
