Michael Edwin Lowe
July 11, 1948 — January 2, 2026
Hudson, Florida — Michael (“Mike”) Edwin Lowe, age 77, passed away peacefully after a courageous and hard-fought battle with stage IV colon cancer. He faced his illness with the same quiet strength and resolve that defined his life.
A lifelong devotee of the sea, Mike turned his passion for the water into a distinguished career. In his younger years, he served as a Naval Architect, a role that allowed him to merge his keen intellect with his love for maritime life. One of his proudest professional achievements was working on the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67), a testament to his skill and his contribution to the nation’s Naval history.
His connection to the water extended far beyond his career. A particularly cherished memory for his youngest children comes from their teenage years on a lake in North Carolina, where he loved taking them out on the pontoon boat, creating a space for laughter and connection. Those simple, sun-soaked days on the lake are memories they will carry forever.
Mike was a man who loved to work with his hands and appreciated the craftsmanship of a classic. He had a great love for old cars and spent many happy hours working on his 1995 Dodge truck. His creativity also showed in the baseball caps he designed, which became a signature part of his wardrobe—he was rarely seen without one.
He also had a remarkable knack for sending the most thoughtful greeting cards—the kind that touched your soul and arrived exactly when they were needed. His penmanship was beautiful and precise, a small but enduring reflection of the care and intention he brought to the people in his life.
When he wasn’t on or near the water or in the garage, Mike could often be found immersed in a football game. He was a dedicated fan, and his long, spirited conversations about the sport with his daughter Kristen were a source of great joy.
He is survived by his long-term loving partner, Joanne Patton of Hudson, FL; his children, Kristen Robbins (Lowe) of Newton, AL, Dustin Lowe of Yulee, FL, Heather Lowe Bertha of Chester, NJ, and Brandon Lowe of Parkville, MD; and his grandchildren, Conner Robbins of California City, CA, and Colton Lowe of Yulee, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Lois Lowe, and his brother, Danny N. Lowe.
His burial will be held on January 13th at 10 a.m. at Grace Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Hudson, FL. He will be laid to rest in a beautiful and peaceful area of the cemetery called the Garden of Devotion, plot 164-B. In honor of his career and love for the sea, the family suggests wearing a touch of navy blue.
May his passing be marked with reflection, gratitude, and the hope that his memory brings comfort to those who knew him.
