Michael Anthony Moxley, age 89, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Born on August 25, 1936, to Florence and William Moxley, Michael grew up with a strong sense of family and community that would define his long and meaningful life.

A proud veteran, Michael honorably served his country in the United States Army before dedicating over 50 years as a truck driver. His strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family were unmatched, and he took great pride in his profession.

Michael was a devoted husband to Helen for 25 years. He was a loving father to Michelle (Joseph), Meredith(David) and a step father to Ivana (David). He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Noemi (Manuel), Collin, David, Yliana, and Ayden—each of whom brought him immense joy.

He was brother to Patricia, Geraldine, Thomas, William, Arthur, and David. Michael was a caring uncle to many nieces and nephews who will miss his warmth and playful spirit.

Those who knew Michael will remember him as a man that was stubborn at times, yet incredibly kind; strong in his opinions, yet quick with a joke. He had a great sense of humor and loved being surrounded by people lighting up any room he entered with his wit and laughter.

Michael also had a special love for dogs, especially his cherished companions Nero and Ally, who brought him endless comfort and joy throughout the years.

His warmth, humor, and the countless memories he created with those who loved him will be deeply missed. Michael's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Per his wishes, he is to be cremated and buried in the VA cemetery at a later date.
