Michael John Poindexter passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. Born October 7, 1959, in the Bronx, New York, Michael later moved with his family to Massapequa, where he discovered a lifelong love for the water.
At 18, he moved to Orlando and began a career as a mechanic, quickly earning a reputation as the guy who could fix anything, especially transmissions. His skill and generosity made him a fixture in Central Florida, where friends, neighbors, and even strangers knew they could count on him, whether stranded on the side of the road or just needing someone to share a cold beer with.
Michael lived loudly and loved a good party. He had a mischievous streak, a dislike for authority, and wasn't shy about telling it like it was. He threw himself into life with humor and vigor, from blaring his favorite music to spinning wild stories and coining unforgettable catchphrases. His laugh was infectious, and his enthusiasm could fill a room.
Over the past decade, he found peace on the water, surrounded by Florida's natural beauty, yet never lost that spark that made him larger than life.
He is survived by his daughter, Christina Poindexter of Brooklyn, New York; his son, Patrick Poindexter of Deltona, Florida; his half-sisters, Karen Frutchey of Longwood, Florida, Desiree Poindexter of Millburn, New Jersey, and Amanda Thomas of Millburn, New Jersey; and his four grandchildren.
Michael's memory will live on in the stories told, the laughter shared, and the unmistakable joy he brought to everyone who knew him. He truly lived life on his own terms, and for that, he will never be forgotten.
