Michael B. Provenz, 55, of Syosset, NY passed away on March 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant 18 month battle with colorectal cancer.
Born in Merrick, NY on August 4, 1970 to Diane and Arthur Provenz, Mike's distinguished investment career as a Wealth Management Advisor spanned three decades. In 2013, he became a partner in The Scheer Provenz Group at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. A certified Financial Planner (CFP), Mike held a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Finance from the University of Vermont.
A lifelong resident of the New York area, Mike and his wife, Ruth, were proud parents of Dylan and Kylie. Mike was an avid sports fan whose passions included coaching his children’s basketball and soccer teams, exercising, skiing, and rooting for the New York Knicks and Yankees. Above all, he loved and excelled at the game of golf, which taught him patience, humility and gave him infinite joy.
Mike was a collector of lifelong meaningful friendships. He made and kept friends from Sanford H. Calhoun High School ("the Merrick Five"), from UVM, from his decades in New York City, and from his 17 years in Syosset, Long Island. Golf friends. Fantasy league friends. Work friends. Parents of his kids' friends, who became cherished lifelong friends, Mike believed that longevity is the point. He lived fully and loved Coldplay concerts, weekends in the Hamptons and Fire Island, foot massages, and his devoted dog, Summer.
Mike is survived by his parents, Diane and Arthur, his wife of 27 years Ruth, children Dylan and Kylie, sister Jessica (Andrea Pocar), nephew Rhys Claburn, and countless friends from every stage of life.
