Michael Patrick Stagl

Michael (Mike) Stagl, 43, passed away April 1,2026 in Nashville,TN.

Mike was the eldest of three brothers, raised in Berea, Ohio and graduated from Berea High School in 2000. His life was defined by his free spirit, generous nature, passion for cooking, and his love for traveling and exploring new cultures. A lifelong chef, he spent his career in kitchens throughout the country and refined his culinary skills by studying and working in France and Ireland. Mike found his purpose in life was cooking and that food was his way of connecting with the world. As much as he enjoyed dining in Michelin star restaurants, Mike could never pass up a Mr. Hero Romanburger.

Mike was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on his beloved Cleveland Browns, Indians/Guardians, and Cavaliers; he even flew up from Atlanta for one day to attend the Cavaliers championship parade in 2016. Mike's loyalty to his favorite teams was matched only by his devotion to The Dave Matthews Band, whose music served as an inspiration in his life; in fact, he saw the band perform live over 40 times.

Mike was a devoted son, brother and proud uncle to his two nieces, Finley and Willa Stagl, who brought immense joy to his life. Mike is survived by his parents, Alyce and Ed Stagl, brothers Dan Stagl (Marwa Shamy), Jim Stagl (Brittany Schultz), nieces Finley and Willa Stagl, his faithful canine companion for 14 years, Charlie, and a community of close family, friends and colleagues throughout the United States and abroad. Mike's passing will leave a huge void in the life of anyone who was lucky enough to share a kitchen, meal or conversation with him. Private services will be held at a later date.
