Michael Thomas Flaherty Sr.

Michael Thomas Francis Flaherty, 69, of Holliston, MA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Born in Natick, MA, on January 22, 1956, Michael was a larger-than-life personality. His spirit and zest for living made him an undeniable force and a guaranteed good time to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a dedicated family man, a loyal friend, and a true enthusiast for the simple, joyful things in life.

A "forever Natick boy," Michael was best known for his lifelong passion for sports. Whether he was cheering on the Pats or supporting his children and grandchildren—sometimes even joining them ON the field—his love for the competitive spirit was infectious. He also possessed a remarkable gift for storytelling; a gathering was never complete until Michael shared his well-loved anecdotes, which were always greeted with an uproar of laughter.
Above all, Michael cherished the time spent with his beloved family and his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Palmer-Flaherty; his loving children, Thomas Palmer, Christopher Palmer (Brittany), Becci Palmer (Shaun), Brett Clougher (Patrick), and Mick Flaherty Jr. (Lauren); and his sister, Patricia Sullivan.
He was the proud grandfather of Skylar, Jess, Colin, Kirsten, Nathan, Sammy, Trey, Penelope, and Ollie.

He also leaves behind a large and loving circle of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will dearly miss their "Uncle Mike" and his legendary playfulness. His legacy of love, laughter, and camaraderie will continue to live on through all of them.

He was predeceased by his parents, Rita Horan Flaherty and Thomas Francis Flaherty, as well as his brother Stephen Flaherty and sister Joan Flaherty.
Michael will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to hear his stories and share in his life.
