Michael John Wagner, 77, passed away on December 20, 2025. He resided in Cupertino, CA from 1997-2025. Born on February 3, 1948, in Spokane, Washington, Michael lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering service, and deep devotion to his faith and family.
He was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy, Michael served from 1968 to 1970. His time in the military reflected his enduring sense of duty and commitment to others—values that would continue to define his life long after his service ended.
A car accident injured him permanently in 1986, though that did not deter him from living life to its fullest. From 1994 until 2018, Michael dedicated himself full-time as a volunteer with the Palo Alto Veterans Administration. Those who encountered him during this time often remarked on his perseverance and humor.
Michael was a devout Catholic whose faith provided him with strength and guidance throughout his life. He approached the world with humility and grace—reserved yet always ready with a quiet joke or thoughtful insight. His humor was subtle but memorable; those who knew him well cherished the warmth behind his shy smile and the wisdom in his words.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Jeffrey Michael Wagner, Melissa Joann Wagner, and Jared Elias Wagner. Michael was preceded in death by Deborah Kay (Ellard) Wagner, the mother of his children, as well as by his brother Bob Wagner.
Michael's legacy is one of compassion and quiet resilience—a man who gave generously of himself without seeking recognition. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as an enduring reminder of a life lived with purpose and heart.
