Michael Elliot "Mike" Wexler, of Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on April 4, 1969, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mike lived a life marked by service, creativity, and deep devotion to his family.
Mike proudly served his country in both the United States Air Force and the National Guard. His military service included a year deployed during Operation Desert Storm, a time that reflected his unwavering commitment to duty and honor.
Following his military career, Mike continued his dedication to public service as a firefighter at the Norfolk Naval Base for 12 years. His courage and selflessness were evident in every call he answered and every life he touched during those years.
After his service in firefighting, Mike channeled his lifelong passion for art into a new chapter as a tattoo artist. For 15 years, he was the lead artist, owner, and manager of his own tattoo shop. His talent and vision left an indelible mark—both literally and figuratively—on countless clients who trusted him with their stories and skin. Known for his precision and creativity, Mike's artistry was more than a profession; it was an extension of who he was.
Mike was an artist from birth. Whether through ink or canvas, he expressed himself with boldness and heart. Outside of work, he found joy in hunting and fishing—activities that allowed him to connect with nature and spend cherished time with loved ones. Above all else, Mike treasured moments spent with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife LeeAnna Wexler; sons Jordan and Miles Wexler; parents Wayne and Pearl Wexler; brother Ivan Wexler and sister-in-law Stacia Wexler; nephews Nicklaus and Bryce Wexler; in-laws Butch and JoAnn Harrah; and sister-in-law Angie Harrah.
Mike will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched—with bravery in service, beauty in art, and love in family.
