Michael Andre Woods

Michael Andre Woods, 65, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on January 19, 2026. He was born December 3, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. Michael was a graduate of Percy Julian High School (Class of 1979) and attended Chicago State University.
Loved by everyone who met him, Michael was known for his positive spirit, kind smile, and encouraging heart. A consummate gentleman and a true people person, he built a successful career in sales leadership within the custom furniture industry, where he was admired for his integrity and mentorship.
Michael was a gifted poet, author, and playwright, a self-taught musician who loved to sing, and a devoted martial artist who earned several Taekwondo trophies in his youth. He also played baseball in the Jackie Robinson League and later enjoyed organized softball as an adult.
He was preceded in death by his parents, M.L. Woods and Esther R. Kannady Woods, and sister, Dr. Dionne Dillard.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Dr. Danita Johnson Woods; sons D'Andre Woods and Michael D. Woods (Tiara); daughter Kyla Parker; grandchildren Armani, McKenzy, D'Andre Ashon, Dior, Tajiala, Mia, NeAsia, Morgan, Tyler, and Javier; and brother Jeffrey Woods (Veronica "Sherry") and a host of other relatives and friends that will deeply miss and forever love him.
