A proud graduate of the Deland High School Class of 1984, Michelle was an esteemed member of the community. She carried her love for the city into her long-standing career at IHOP Deland, where she was loved and admired by her coworkers and customers for her hard work, dedication, and infectious smile.
Michelle had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and stories, often seen engrossed in the pages of a Stephen King or Harry Potter book. Her love for books was not solitary, as she loved her online gaming and cherished playing games with her family and friends, creating lasting memories and nurturing bonds that crossed generations.
Michelle's life was not without its trials, but she faced each one with a grace and strength that inspired those around her. She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Rice, and her two nieces, Harleigh Simpson and Shawna Carbonaro.
Her spirit lives on in those she leaves behind: her three children, Tony Rice, Desi Andrews, and Jennifer Katona; two beautiful Grandchildren, Raiden Rice and Danaisia Reddick; her mother, Barbara Robertson; her four sisters, Deb Gale, Shirley McLeod, Susie Rice, and Melissa Simpson. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember her dearly..
Michelle’s life will be celebrated at a Homegoing Celebration Service at the Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church on March 17th, 2026, at 3:00 pm, a fitting tribute to a wonderful woman born on St. Patrick's Day. Her memory will be carried in the hearts of all who knew her as we remember her kindness, her laughter, and her love.
