Mikel Wayne McNew, 65, passed away on December 25, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Born on July 14, 1960, Mikel graduated from Sam Houston High School in Arlington, Texas in 1978. He went on to build a distinguished 38-year career at Lockheed Martin (formerly General Dynamics) in Fort Worth before retiring. Known for his strong work ethic and unwavering integrity, Mikel was deeply devoted to his family and community.
Mikel is lovingly remembered by his wife, Anita; his children: Shelbi and her husband Raul, Devon and his wife Kayla, Monica and her wife Megan, and Madeline and her fiancée Sarah; his sister, Shari; and his cherished grandchildren and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin McNew and Vera Jean Miller McNew.
A man of varied interests, Mikel found joy in traveling to state and national parks, riding motorcycles, and cheering on the Texas Rangers. His love for the outdoors reflected a spirit of adventure that he carried throughout his life. He was a member of First Christian Church in Fort Worth, where he found spiritual grounding and community.
A memorial service will be held on January 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church, 612 Throckmorton St., Fort Worth, TX 76102.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the National Park Foundation in Mikel's memory.
