Mildred Lois "Milly" Garson (née Baughman), age 98, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, in Sebastian, Florida.

Born on June 14, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Milly led a life marked by intellectual pursuit, civic engagement, and spirited leadership. She graduated from Wilson College in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and continued her academic journey at Bryn Mawr College, where she pursued graduate studies in history from 1949 to 1951.

Milly began her professional career as a biographic analyst with the Central Intelligence Agency. Her tenure at the CIA reflected her keen intellect and dedication to public service. In 1954, she resigned from "The Company". In 1955 she took a job with the Institute of International Education. In 1957, as head of the Professional Advice Division, she was given the assignment of planning and leading a cross-country trip for 20 United Nations "Special Internes". In 1965, she accepted the marriage proposal from Wm. Donald Garson and later embraced a new chapter of life as a homemaker.

Throughout her years in Scarsdale, New York, Milly became a vibrant presence in the community. She served as the longtime choral director for the Scarsdale Women's Club and also held the position of president of the organization. Her leadership and enthusiasm brought joy to many and left an enduring legacy within the club and beyond.

Milly was known for her outgoing and lively spirit—a quality that endeared her to friends and family alike. Her warmth and energy were constants throughout her long life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William D. Garson, who passed away in 1998.

She is lovingly remembered by her son Graham Garson; daughter-in-law Terese Kennedy-Garson; grandchildren Jeffrey Garson, Megan Garson, and Marley Garson; and great-grandsons Jace Halloran and Wesley Halloran.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire all whose lives she touched.

Celebrations of Milly's life will be held on January 31 in Florida and on a March date and location to be determined later in the Harrisburg, PA area

Memorial donations can be sent to her favorite charity, Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
