Mitzi Ortiz passed away on December 22, 2025. She is remembered first and foremost as a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and strength to the lives around her.

Mitzi was funny in the way that mattered—quick-witted, observant, and able to lighten even difficult moments without diminishing their importance. She loved to laugh, tell stories, and share inside jokes with the people closest to her. She was adventurous by nature and deeply enjoyed traveling, always eager to explore new places, cultures, and experiences. For Mitzi, travel was less about the destination and more about curiosity, connection, and making lasting memories.

Family was at the center of Mitzi's life. She was a devoted and proud mother, deeply committed to her children and their futures. As a daughter and sister, she was loyal, protective, and grounded in strong family bonds. As a friend, she was genuine, dependable, and present—someone people trusted and leaned on without hesitation.

That same sense of care extended beyond her family to the wider community. Mitzi believed deeply in helping people achieve better lives and in the responsibility of public service to lift others up. Whether through her years in the municipal clerk profession or later as City Manager of Aliso Viejo, she remained committed to fairness, access, and doing the work that improves daily life for residents. She understood that real change happens through consistency, compassion, and service, and she carried those values throughout her career.

Mitzi is survived by her son, Aasin Ortiz; her daughter, Maiya Ortiz; her sister, Martha Leticia Dominguez Morales; her brother, Randy Morales Dominguez; and her father, Jesus Dias Dominguez. She was preceded in death by her mother, Isabel Morales Dominguez.

Mitzi Ortiz will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments, but for who she was as a person—funny, adventurous, thoughtful, and deeply devoted to the people she loved. Her loss is profound, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
