Muriel "Midge" Dershak

1947 - 2026

Muriel "Midge" Dershak, our beautiful mother, was born on July 20, 1947, and was the beloved daughter of Catherine Lepi. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and best friend, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, during Holy Week—the most sacred time in the Christian calendar—bringing comfort in knowing she was welcomed home in such a holy season.

She was a devoted and loving mother to Aaron Dershak (Shannon), Christopher Dershak, and Kristen Hennings (Jimmy). She was a proud and cherished Nana to Jacob Hennings (Brianna), Caden Buccier, Katie Buccier, Brandon Dershak, Tyler Dershak, Luke Dershak, and her angel, Ryan Dershak.

She shared a rare and special bond with her best friend and soul sister, Denise Amato—a friendship that spanned over 30 years and brought her immeasurable joy.

While her life held challenges, it is her contributions and the love she gave that define her legacy. She found deep purpose in caring for others, including her time working as an activities assistant in a nursing home, where she dedicated herself to residents who often had no one else by their side.

Her greatest pride and joy, however, was her family—especially her grandchildren, with whom she loved sharing her time, showering them with affection and of course, sweet treats. The best Nana there will ever be.

She had a spirit for adventure and a love of travel that took her across the world, including trips to China, Bangkok, Korea, The Philippines, Thailand, Japan, and the Caribbean. Midge was proud of her career as buyer and merchandiser for children's clothing at Halle's, May Company and Dillard's in downtown Cleveland. She was a true pioneer for women in the working world, juggling both the demands of raising a family and earning a paycheck as a primary breadwinner. She was busy and tired, but never put her professional endeavors before her children. A fact she was most proud of.

Midge had a wonderful sense of humor that could light up a room. Whether it was a perfectly timed comment, a bit of sarcasm, or simply her ability to make others laugh when they needed it most, her humor was one of the many ways she showed her love. She will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the deep love she had for her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 25, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 PM at Bianca's Italian Restaurant (4284 Beverly Hills Dr., Brunswick, OH 44212). We warmly invite you to join us as we gather to honor, remember, and celebrate a beautiful life.
