Myra Martin MacCuaig, born into this world with unbridled love, wisdom, and mischief in the foothills of Chattanooga, Tennessee, left us on April 13, 2026. Myra was 79 years old. For the past four years, she battled the cruel diseases known as Parkinson's and Lewy body dementia. Consistent with her defining vigor and patent disobedience, she did not go easily. Ultimately, Myra passed peacefully, in the loving care of her family, in her own home—leaving the echoes of her unmistakable, sunlit laugh behind.

Back in 1972, Myra Kreusi Martin was wed to Randy MacCuaig, to whom she would devote most of her life. Together, they loved and raised three children: Lindsay, Lauren, and Whit. Myra deeply admired her parents - Jim and Eleanor Martin - as well as her siblings, Parget Rubiera, Hunter Martin, and Walter Martin. She cherished her two children-in-law, Meredith and Brian; her four grandchildren, Talulah, Josie, Hayes, and Blake; and, of course, our Jefe.

Myra's family transcended bloodlines: she was a foundation of nurturing love and patient wisdom to so many—friends, her children's friends, Starbucks baristas, telemarketers, drive-through bank clerks... you get the idea. Myra loved to talk about whatever mattered most to those around her. So much so that, in 1990, she embarked on a career in clinical therapy to help others find themselves. The impact of Myra's love and wisdom during her time on earth is simply profound.

Myra's true nirvana lay in hiking the Rocky Mountains and dancing to live music. Over the past four decades, she took her children to hike in the Maroon Bells, dance to live music at Red Rocks, swim in the cool waters of Lost Cove, ski every slope in Vermont, and eat late-night meals at Steak 'n Egg. She gave us unconditional love. She taught us how to listen. She gave us everything and, in doing so, showed us life's only true sanctuary: gratitude.

Myra will be celebrated and remembered forever, but the party starts April 25, 2026 at 2 pm at St. Moses Church. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to donate to one of the following:
