Myrtle Massie, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in Memphis, TN at the age of 101. She was born on September 10, 1924, in Springfield, OH, to the late Jessie and Birdie (Bray) White. In her later years, Myrtle made her home in Atlanta, GA, and eventually in Memphis, TN.
As a devoted mother and grandmother, Myrtle Massie nurtured her family with kindness, perseverance, and a deep sense of community. She cherished time with her family, sharing stories and wisdom that shaped their lives.
Outside of her deep love for family, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her church community. Myrtle Massie began her walk with the Lord at Bibleway Apostolic Church under the leadership of the late Willie Miller in Springfield, OH. She later continued her worship at Lighthouse Worship Center, pastored by the late Earl D. Ragland, and at Zion Apostolic Pentecostal Church, where her son Brian Massie served as Pastor. She leaves a lasting legacy of generosity, unwavering faith, and a gentle warmth that touched every life she encountered.
Myrtle Massie is survived by her children: Gloria Ragland, Brian (Linda) Massie, and Steven (Deborah) Massie; her grandchildren: Shaunnucci (Cora) Moore, Nadia Wilson, Pamela Massie, Brina Massie, and Linneka (Demarcus Sr) Sneed; and her great-grandchildren: Stefan Massie, A'Niyah Perkins, Sienna Moore, Alexander Moore, Knala Sneed, Demarcus Sneed,Jr., and Isaiah Sneed, and host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will continue to honor her memory and carry forward her legacy of love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Birdie (Bray) White; her brothers, William White, Ezeal White, and Edward White, Sr.; her sister, Pearl Pettiford; and her son, William Massie III, whom she now joins in eternal rest.
A memorial service celebrating Myrtle's life will be held on January 3, 2026 at Greater First Baptist Church, 1175 Upper Valley Pike, Springfield, OH 45504.

Her legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
