Nadine Whiton died December 13, 2025 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was 96 years old.
Born in New York City on December 6th, 1929, Ms. Whiton grew up in Westport, Connecticut. She attended the Edgewood School in Greenwich, Connecticut, and graduated in 1948. Later, she attended the Scudder Culver School in New York City.
Recognized at Edgewood as an accomplished pianist and artist, Ms. Whiton studied painting and sculpture at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia from 1955 to 1960. She was active in the local art community, attending gallery openings and serving as an exhibit judge.
In 1960, Ms. Whiton moved to Washington DC and served as an art teacher, offering classes in beginner sketching. She also worked for the Daughters of the American Revolution from 1980 until she retired in 1999. In 2016, she moved to Houston, where she was a resident of Inspired Living in Sugar Land, Texas.
Ms. Whiton was the daughter of Louis C. Whiton and Colette Whiton. “Lou” was founder and President of Prat-Daniel, an engineering company headquartered in New York. Colette grew up in Paris, France, the daughter of Marcel and Irene Ritcher. Ms. Whiton and her older sister Jacqueline frequently left school in Connecticut for extended stays with their grandparents in Paris and Cannes, France.
Ms. Whiton’s nephews, Ward and Steven Pendleton, live in Houston. A third nephew, Edmund Pendleton, lives in New York City.
