Nancy Stafford Guin, 77, passed away on December 28, 2025, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Born in Raleigh County, West Virginia, on September 10, 1948, Nancy lived a life marked by grit, determination, and a larger-than-life presence that left no room for subtlety.

She graduated from Mount Hope High School and went on to build a successful career at Burroughs Wellcome Company, later GlaxoSmithKline. At a time when leading women in technology were uncommon, Nancy made her mark as a computer systems analyst and ultimately managed the computer center at the company's Research Triangle Park facility. She was smart, exacting, and unapologetically proud of her work—and she expected others to keep up.

Nancy was a devoted wife to Lester Wayne Guin and a loving mother to Aaron S. Guin (Laura). Family mattered deeply to her, and she showed that love with intensity, loyalty, and unmistakable opinions. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Deanna Stafford, Faye Stafford, and Ruth Harris (Butch), and shared a close bond with her stepson, Chris Guin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Batley Stafford and Juanita Cantley Stafford, her brothers, Ronald G. Stafford, Donald C. Stafford, and Thomas H. Stafford, and her sister Virginia Keeney.

Proud of her West Virginia roots, Nancy never lost the accent, the attitude, or the backbone that came with them. She was an enthusiastic Tar Heels basketball fan, an exceptional cook, and a devoted listener of oldies and classic hits—preferably loud, preferably Janis Joplin, and preferably playing from her 1963 Seeburg jukebox.

No memorial service will be held at this time. Nancy leaves behind a legacy of strength, candor, hard work, and love—felt deeply and remembered vividly by all who knew her.
