Nancy H. Lenox (nee Harbach), 82, passed away peacefully at Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers, FL on March 1, 2026. She was born in Trenton, NJ to Wilbur and Helen Harbach and lived in Maple Shade before moving to Trenton as a young child. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Trenton in 1961. In 1965 she married the love of her life Richard H. (Dick) Lenox and settled in Morrisville, PA before moving to Island Heights, NJ in 1977 where they raised their two children: Jeff and Stacy. Nancy worked for NJ Bell for years before leaving employment to spend more time at home. After the passing of her husband in 2001 she resided in Boothbay Harbor, Maine for many years where she found joy among the stacks, volunteering at the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library's used book store. Nancy was happiest either in front of the wood stove in her 18th century cottage or watching the many moods of the ocean. She returned to New Jersey in 2019 where she lived in Whiting, Joint Base MDL, and Lakewood before relocating to Fort Myers this year to be near Stacy. She was a private person who loved books, knitting, and jigsaw puzzles. Time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren always lifted her spirits
She is survived by her children Jeffrey and his wife Christine Lenox of Crozet,Virginia and Stacy and her husband Luke Hecker of Alva, Florida as well as her brother and sister-in-law Bill and Jean Harbach and her sister-in-law Lynn Lenox. Nancy had 7 grandchildren: Caitlyn, Lexie, Cameron, Aaron, Allie, Emily, and Mackenzie, 5 great grandchildren: Nora, Cooper, Lily, Rylee, and Greyson and 5 nieces and nephews.
Her chocolate chip cake, sense of humor, and lack of social filter will be missed by her family.
A celebration of life will be held in New Jersey at the Toms River Elks Lodge located at 600 Washington Street Toms River, NJ on June 6, 2026 at 11am. Lunch will be served after visitation and a brief service
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Friends of the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library where Nancy spent many years sorting used books so that others could enjoy them. Donations may be made by following this link: https://bbhlibrary.org/support/
