Mrs. Nancy Louise Meehan (Belliveau), 82, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, the city where she was born and spent her whole life.
Born on June 24, 1943, in Fitchburg to Peter and Alice (Tousignant) Belliveau, Nancy was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended St. Bernard's High School before graduating from Fitchburg High School. Her pursuit of education continued at Mount Wachusett Community College, where she earned her degree and laid the foundation for a long and successful career.
Upon graduation, Nancy began working at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, Massachusetts. There, she served as Division Secretary for over 25 years—a role in which her dedication and professionalism were deeply valued.
Nancy married her high school sweetheart, James M. Meehan, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Together they built a family that brought her immense joy and pride. She is lovingly remembered by her husband James; her son Michael Meehan; her daughters Lori Apicella and her husband James Apicella, and Kimberly Dugas and her husband Stephen Dugas. Nancy was a devoted grandmother to Ryan Meehan, Ryan Mylott, Christa McDonald, Jerome Dugas, Joseph Apicella, and Matthew Meehan. Her cherished great-grandchildren brought light to her later years.
She is also survived by her siblings: brother Brian Belliveau and his wife Brenda; brother Richard Belliveau; and sister Joyce Boucher. Many loving nieces and nephews were also part of the close-knit family that surrounded Nancy throughout her life.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents Peter and Alice Belliveau; her stepmother Mary Belliveau; and her brother Leo Belliveau.
A woman of deep faith, Nancy’s spirituality guided every aspect of her life. She found joy in simple pleasures—knitting by the window, playing the piano with grace, reading quietly in the afternoon sun, or singing with heartfelt warmth. Camping trips were among her favorite pastimes, offering opportunities to connect with nature and loved ones alike.
Nancy had a special gift for making others feel cherished. She delighted in baking wedding cakes for family celebrations and found peace walking along Wells Beach or traveling to Myrtle Beach with those closest to her. Summers were often spent taking family vacations—memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. She especially enjoyed bringing her grandchildren on trips to Boston or simply spoiling them—and later their children—with affection and thoughtful surprises.
Time spent with family was always treasured by Nancy. Whether playing cards with Brian and Brenda or watching waves roll onto the shore during beach walks, she embraced every moment shared with those she loved.
