Nancy Odegaard tragically passed away November 20th, 2025.
Born in 1959 in the San Fernando Valley Nancy led a vibrant life.
As a college student in the early 80s she joined the Los Angeles Thunderbirds Roller Derby team.
She pursued a BA in Economics in from Cal State LA and then, later, a Masters in Urban Planning from USC. She went on to work for the Cities of Beverly Hills, Simi Valley, and Los Angeles during which time she first met her husband Oscar. Nancy also taught in the masters program at USC as a part of her commitment to fostering young Trojans.
She embraced adventure, traveling internationally to places like London and Dubai as well as trips with her husband to Norway, Moscow, St Petersburg, and Helsinki.
In recent years she and Oscar divided the year living between Estes Park, Colorado and Borrego Springs, California where she was active in the Borrego Springs Soroptimists.
She is survived by her husband Oscar J Odegaard, son Isaac Burkholz, sister Sharon George, mother Gloria Griskevitch, and a big community of family and friends who all miss her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 11am February 21st 2026 at St Richards Church in Borrego Springs with luncheon to follow.
