Nancy Jean McKinney Romanus, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on June 28, 1954, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Nancy lived a life marked by dedication to her family, her work, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.
Nancy earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, reflecting her early passion for the arts and her lifelong love of learning. Throughout her career, she shared her talents and warm personality in a variety of professional roles. Alongside her husband, Richard Romanus Sr., she helped establish and manage Auction Services, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic. Most recently, Nancy served as a Membership Concierge at Baptist Milestone, where she was often the first friendly face members encountered in the early morning hours and was known for her welcoming presence and dedication to serving others.
Family was central to Nancy's life. She was a devoted mother to her son, Rick, who lives in the Seattle area with his wife, Trisha. Her love extended deeply to her cherished grandchildren, Adien and Noah, who brought immense joy to her life. Nancy also shared a close and loving bond with her sister, Sarah McNabb of Louisville, Kentucky.
She is further survived by her aunt, Maxine Mantooth, and her cousins, Karen McKinney of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Janet Clazzy of Gallatin, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Romanus Sr., in 2011, and by her parents, Grady Eugene McKinney and Helen Patton McKinney.
Nancy found great comfort and pleasure in the quiet moments of life. She enjoyed cross-stitching with care and creativity, immersing herself in books through her love of reading, and spending time with her cherished cat, Oliver. A proud supporter of the University of Tennessee, she remained loyal to her roots throughout her life.
A memorial service celebrating Nancy's life will be held in the spring, with details to be shared once arrangements are finalized.
