Nancy Carroll Radford Scott, aged 91, passed away peacefully in Surprise, Arizona on the evening of December 24, 2025, with her family by her bedside and her husband of 72 years holding her hand.

Nancy was born in War Eagle, West Virginia on September 22, 1934, and grew up on a small farm in Berea, Kentucky. She was a sophomore at Berea Foundation High School, an extension school of Berea College, when she met Paul Jarvis Scott, a fellow Foundation student. Nancy and Paul were inseparable from that day on and were married after high school graduation when Paul joined the Air Force during the Korean War.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Paul; her children, Brenda Overturf (James), Dana Latorre (Rocco II), and Karen Small (Harold); her grandchildren, Whitney Joiner (Andrew Stuart), Andrew Joiner (Anjni), Rocco Latorre III, Karah Barber (Kevin), Emily Snedecker (Brad), Brenden Small (Jamie), and Leanna Amborn (Kevin); 15 beautiful great-grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Alferd Radford and Beulah Bernice Click Radford of Berea, Kentucky; her sister, Connie Sue Radford Campbell and brother-in-law Marshall Campbell of Moorestown, NJ.; and her brother, Rodney Earl Radford and sister-in-law Patricia Radford of Berea, KY.

Nancy was a talented seamstress. She made crafts to sell in the Berea College Log House Gallery while in high school, and after she was married, created stylish collections of clothing for her three daughters. She played the piano, sang in the church choir, and performed solos of Baptist hymns for services. After her children were older, Nancy enrolled in a training course to become a seasonal tax preparer for an H&R Block office in Cincinnati, Ohio. That course led to a full career as a tax preparation specialist. She worked at H&R Block offices wherever Paul's career with the Federal Aviation Administration sent them—Westerville, OH, Redwood Falls, MN, Minneapolis, MN, and Cinnaminson, NJ—and became a year-round manager. While in New Jersey, Nancy earned enrolled agent (EA) status, the highest credential awarded by the Internal Revenue Service which granted her unlimited authorization to represent any taxpayer or business on any tax matter before any IRS facility in the US. Nancy retired as the district manager of 12 H&R Block offices in the Philadelphia area. After leaving the northeast, she and Paul lived in Louisville, Kentucky before moving to Arizona to be near family in 2019.

Nancy was a life-long avid reader and enjoyed traveling to new places. She often served as a local election poll worker and volunteered on committees for her condominium association board. In later years, she crocheted treasures to give to loved ones and to donate to hospital nurseries. She was a keeper of family stories, and she will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in Berea, Kentucky. Gifts in Nancy's memory may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org or 1-800-242-8721) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org or 1-800-805-5856).
