Nancy Elaine Wahl, age 77, born in Binghamton, NY, passed from this world peacefully in her sleep on January 23rd, in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Nancy was a lover of the arts, particularly plays and concerts, a talented artist and home chef and a beautiful dancer. She found her artistic side mostly later in life and created beautiful decoupage sea shells and keepsakes and discovered a love for watercolors, along with many other creative outlets. She enjoyed fellowship with her friends and family and her "Senior Center family" and always looked forward to her spending relaxing days during her retirement years at the senior center playing cards and bingo or dressing up for her spirited dance night outings.

She moved to Atlanta in the mid 80's and spent 15 years working for the Coca Cola company and also began volunteer work during these years and proudly served as a contributor and supporter for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games and preserved many wonderful memories. In the early 2000's she was introduced to the City of Charleston while visiting during a dance vacation and fell in love with the Palmetto State's "Holy City". Shortly thereafter she enthusiastically relocated to Mt. Pleasant, and after paying her dues began a new career with the Citadel in the treasurer's office, where she admired and awed at the pageantry of the university. She retired with the South Carolina Educational Lottery.

She was very fond of her time in Charleston, and over two decades working and volunteering with the Historical Society of Charleston, Spoleto arts festival and the Food and Wine festival, which was her favorite time of year when she was able to work alongside some of her idols in the culinary world, and all that her beloved Low Country had to offer. She traveled extensively throughout her life and her ebullient and unique personality attracted and charmed people and children of all ages. Though nothing made her happier than to dote on her grandchildren and making them laugh and smile while baking their favorite pistachio "Nana Cake". She was a wonderful, affectionate and selfless mother and had a very tender heart for those who had less and never missed an opportunity to interact with and make a child smile, which she did effortlessly.

She was one of seven children and is survived by her son, Nicholas, daughter, Anna, grandchildren Roman and Gabriel, her big sisters Mary Ann and Marsha, big brothers Joe and Jim, sister-in-law Stephanie and brother-in-law Dave, and numerous cousins and nieces whom she loved and cared about very much. She will be deeply missed and leaves behind a spirit of joy, humor and kindness. She was not afraid of what was to come and talked of her excitement to reunite with her parents and siblings and discovering what God's grace would bring her next.

I love you Mom and miss you terribly.
