Nathan Daniel Cryer was born on April 3, 1991, in Houston, Texas, to Lynnette Hazlewood and Lance Cryer. Nathan spent his early years in the Houston area, where his bright spirit and wonderful sense of humor began to shine. From a young age, he loved reading, learning, playing games, and making funny videos that brought joy to those around him. Nathan also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed swimming, going to the beach, camping, visiting the shooting range, fishing, and enjoying meaningful moments with his cherished friends and family.

Nathan had an exceptionally big heart, felt by everyone fortunate enough to know him. His loyalty to the people he loved was unwavering, and his kindness and ability to make others smile—even in the hardest moments—left a lasting impression on countless lives. A lifelong animal lover, Nathan was especially drawn to protecting and nurturing animals, particularly cats.

Guided by his desire to protect and serve others, Nathan answered a true calling from God. He volunteered for many years as an EMT and firefighter with the Tri-County Volunteer Fire Department in Magnolia, Texas, where he served his community with courage, compassion, and strength.

Surrounded by his family, Nathan was called home to be with the Lord on the morning of December 3, 2025. As a final act of selflessness, he chose to donate his body to science, a wish lovingly carried out by his family in hopes of helping others.

Nathan is survived by his mother, Lynnette Hazlewood; father, Lance Cryer; partner, Amber Kendrick; stepfather, Jim Brunson; sisters, Shelby Brunson and her boyfriend Christian Thackery, and Teale Creasy; grandmothers, Donna Kent and Barbara Hazlewood; aunt, Stevie Hazlewood; uncle, Ronald Hazlewood; and his beloved canine niece, Nova Brunson. He is also survived by many extended family members and close friends who loved him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Harold Kent and Kenneth Hazlewood, and his stepfather, Geoff Farrar.

In honor of Nathan's life and his love for helping others—both people and animals—please consider volunteering or donating to your local animal rescue or fire department.
