On February 18, 2026 at 4:44pm, Lt. Cmdr. Neal W. Davidson, USN (Ret.) was cleared for his final takeoff and flight home to the Lord, surrounded by his family.
A native of Louisiana, Neal was a proud graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1983. He served honorably as a Naval aviator and retired in 2003 as a Lieutenant Commander. Following his military service, he continued his career in defense contracting while remaining closely connected to the Navy community that meant so much to him.
He cherished community and connections, staying active in numerous organizations, including serving as President of the Naval Academy Class of '83, a board member of the Navy League, and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, the Army and Navy Club, and other military organizations.
Neal shared 42 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Leslie. Together they built a life grounded in faith, love, and joy. He was a proud father to four sons: Michael (Lindsey), Tommy (Brittney), Trent (Jeanne), and Daniel, and a loving grandfather to Clark, Aiden, Emma, and Clovis. He is also survived by his sister, Sherrill (Chris); his brothers, Evan and Robert (Sondra); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara Davidson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the United States Naval Academy Chapel on Monday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. Neal will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
He will be remembered for his steady strength, memorable one-liners, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
