Nicholas "Nick" Zumbro, 36, passed away tragically on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2025. Nick was a longtime resident of Victory Gardens, New Jersey, and recently relocated to Gainesville, Texas, to be close to his beloved daughter and begin a new chapter in life.

Nick is survived by his older brother, Anthony Zumbro; and by the greatest joy of his life—his precious daughter, Kira Zumbro, age 16, whom he loved deeply and his cat, Popcorn. He is also survived by many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by his presence, loyalty, humor, and heart.

Nick was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Jo Zumbro; his father, John Serkin; and his grandparents, Edna Ruth Trubek and Marty Trubek.

Nick was a man of many trades—someone who could work with his hands and figure things out.. He was employed by Subway in Gainesville, Texas, and was also known for his skills in landscaping and mechanic work, always willing to step in and help whenever someone needed it.

Nick will be remembered for his mischievous, sarcastic sense of humor, his unmistakable guilty smile, and the way he showed up for people—no matter the time, no matter the situation. Although Nick had a tough exterior, those who truly knew him understood what was underneath: the biggest heart, deep loyalty, and a willingness to help anyone at any time. Nick had a love for all animals and connected to them deeply.

Nick loved music, his friends, and most of all, spending time with his daughter, Kira. He was also a Christian who proudly shared that he was saved by grace, a truth that gave him hope and shaped his life in personal and meaningful ways. Nick's presence was unforgettable, and his loss leaves an emptiness that cannot be put into words. He will be missed and forever remembered.
Nick always lived by the Serenity Prayer ''God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. Courage for the things I can change and Wisdom to know the difference.''
