Nick Del Real Valenzuela, 74, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026. Born in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Juan and Eleonor Valenzuela, Nick built a life defined by devotion to his family, a vibrant spirit of adventure, and a deep-seated kindness that touched everyone he met.

Nick is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Isabel Perez. He leaves behind a profound legacy of love and is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patti; his children, Nick (Marci) Valenzuela and Nicole (Aaron) Vigil; and his cherished grandchildren, Niko, Noah and Alle Valenzuela.

He is also survived by his brothers, Esteban, Juan and Jesus; his sisters, Maria, Petra, Delia, Socorro, Anita and Elena; and a large, loving extended family of nieces, nephews and lifelong friends, as well as his faithful companion, Rocky.

MILITARY RECORD

Nick served in the United States Army (1970-1973) and was stationed at various posts including the Nike Missile Base in Porter, Indiana and the last 13 months of his service was in Hanau, Germany with the 814th Engineer Company. During his time in the U.S. Army he was awarded a Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and received several letters of commendations, recognizing his exceptional performance and contributions to his Unit.

A LIFE OF ADVENTURE AND DEVOTION

Nick was a man of many passions. An avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast, he found joy in camping, dirt bike riding and long rides on his Harley-Davidson. He was a dedicated SF 49ers and Giants fan, and a proud Sacramento Kings season ticket holder. Whether he was playing softball, horseshoes, or enjoying a game of Texas Hold'em, Nick's energy was infectious.

Above all, Nick was a devoted family man. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on his children and grandchildren at their sporting events, traveling across the region to be their biggest supporter. His presence was a constant source of strength and encouragement for those he loved.

Service Information

Family and friends are invited to honor Nick's life on Wednesday, March 11th, at St. Mary's Cemetery & Funeral Center (6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento).

Rosary: 9:30 a.m.

Mass: 10:00 a.m.

Interment: 11:00 a.m.

Following the services, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Elk's Lodge #6, located at 6446 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento.
