Nils Austin Shiflett, age 49, passed away on July 16, 2025. He was a previous resident of Beaumont, Houston, Austin, Leander, and Georgetown, Texas.
Born on January 20, 1976, in Corsicana, Texas, Nils carried with him a gentleness & wit that touched every life he encountered. He married his beloved wife, Cori Coburn, on June 13, 2013, and together they grew a bond rooted in friendship & laughter. Nils graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, in 2014 with a B.S. in Communication and was previously employed at Cinemark in Round Rock, Texas.
Nils is survived by his devoted wife, Cori Coburn-Shiflett; his mother, Marilyn Shiflett; his siblings, Tammy (Steve) Tallent, Kelly Howell, Brandon Shiflett, Tommy Lee (Brandi) Shiflett Jr., and Jarrod Shiflett; along with his two beloved pets, Vyvian (dog) & Isabella Toscano (cat), and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Lee Shiflett.
To know Nils was to know a man of quiet kindness and sharp intelligence. A gifted writer and a keen observer of the world, he filled ordinary moments with thoughtfulness. He delighted in stories of every kind (movies, comics, science fiction, literature, and music) and shared that love generously with those around him. Animals and children were drawn to him instinctively, sensing the gentleness of his spirit. Friends will remember his laughter, his clever words, and his rare gift for weaving intellect & warmth into every connection.
Honoring his deep appreciation for the ocean, Nils wished for his remains to be interred to a coral reef sanctuary in the Gulf of Mexico.
Though his time was far too short, Nils leaves behind a legacy of love that will outlast the years. In lieu of cards and flowers, please consider a financial or wish list donation to the Central Texas SPCA (https://www.centraltexasspca.org/ways-to-make-a-difference), an organization dear to the Coburn-Shiflett family.
