Norma Gonzalez
April 18, 1950 - February 14, 2026
Norma Gonzalez, our shining matriarch, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 18, 1950, in the small town of Salineño, Texas, to Maria Elva Garcia and Raul Flores. She was one of six children and grew up deeply rooted in family, faith, and hard work.
On October 14, 1972, Norma married the love of her life, Federico C. Gonzalez. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters: Elva, Michelle, and Norma. The family settled in Pasadena, Texas, to be near family.
Norma dedicated 36 years of service to Kroger, where she was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and reliability. She enjoyed passing out free cookies to kids and cooking for her staff. She retired in 2014, proud of her long and faithful tenure.
In 2005, Norma and Federico moved to Cypress, Texas, to be closer to their daughters and future grandchildren. Their home quickly became the heart of the family, especially known for hosting the beloved annual Easter party in their large backyard, a tradition filled with laughter, food, and togetherness.
Norma found joy in life's simple and beautiful moments. She loved to cook and bake, nurture her outdoor plants, take walks, sip strawberry margaritas, drink copious amounts of coffee, read Danielle Steel books, watch Hallmark movies, and never miss her beloved telenovelas. She faithfully cheered on the Houston Astros and especially loved watching José Altuve at bat. Most of all, she cherished daily conversations with her sisters, Anabel and Diana, and time spent with her family.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud nonnie, loyal sister, dedicated aunt/godmother, and cherished friend. Her greatest joy came from her six grandchildren: Olivia, Bryan, Bennett, Gabriel, Michael, and Logan, who brought endless pride and light to her life.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Maria Elva Garcia and Raul Flores, her sister Albeza, and her brothers Raul and Oscar. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Federico C. Gonzalez; her daughters, Elva Akin and husband Truett Akin, Michelle Sacks, and Norma Alcaraz and husband Leo Alcaraz; her sisters, Anabel Doza and Diana Ramos; her six beloved grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Norma's love for her family was fierce, unwavering, and unconditional. She was the heart of her home, the glue that held generations together, and a source of warmth, laughter, and adoration. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A private family celebration of life is being planned.
