Norman Bernard Kaufman, 93, beloved husband of 54 years to Susan (Averbuck) Kaufman, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, in Canton, Massachusetts. Born on December 25, 1932, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Jacob and Alice (Shreiar) Kaufman, Norman lived a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to his family, career, and personal passions.
After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Norman joined the Navy. After leaving the Navy, Norman started working at Kaufman Company, where he was the guiding force behind the sales department for many decades. Through his leadership and vision, he played a pivotal role in substantially growing the business, leaving an enduring legacy of success and innovation. His professional achievements were matched by his personal qualities—his sharp intellect and generous spirit made him a respected figure both in his work and among those who knew him.
A man of many talents and interests, Norman found joy in fixing things, engaging with puzzles of all kinds and Susan's pumpkin pie. Whether it was crossword puzzles, word games, or jigsaw puzzles, he delighted in challenges that exercised his mind. He was also an avid card player and liked to dabble in woodworking. These hobbies reflected his keen intelligence and love for problem-solving.
Norman's sense of humor was one of his most cherished traits. His wit and warmth brought laughter and happiness to those around him, creating countless fond memories for family and friends alike.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Kaufman, his children Andrew and Irene Kaufman, Michael Rothstein, Jason Kaufman, Allen Rothstein, and Louis and Secil Kaufman, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Wayne Kaufman, and his first wife, Barbara (Wright) Kaufman. Norman's family will forever treasure the love and wisdom he shared with them throughout his life.
