Norm Mailhot, 70, of Sarasota, Florida passed away on February 27, 2026, at Sarasota Tidewell Hospice. Norm was born on November 15, 1955, in Waterbury, Connecticut and was the son of the late Raymond and Doris Mailhot. Norm was a long-time resident of the Hartford, Connecticut area - Bristol & Bloomfield - and in later years a resident of Sarasota, Florida.

While Norm had a variety of employment experiences, he will be best known as a finish carpenter and his company Trimco. From installing luxury trim, to high end kitchens, his skill and attention to detail exemplify what it means when we say, "it's hard to find craftsmen like that anymore".

Quick to make friends, Norm was ready to engage in conversation on almost any topic - from experiences driving an 18-wheeler across the country, to a latest romance, or the most challenging jigsaw puzzle he'd be currently working on.

It was not uncommon for Norm to try and talk his friends into a last-minute trip across the state for late evening fun. He'd say, "If we leave now, we can be there by midnight..."

Known for his dinner parties, he'd cook an enviable spread. We'd go home with full stomachs, full memories, and leftovers.

Norm will be missed by his many friends and family. He is survived by four siblings and their spouses, including Thomas Mailhot (Sheree), Terri Maihot, Christopher Mailhot (Deborah), all of Bristol, CT, and Raymond Mailhot Jr. (Dr. Nanette Miner) of Murrells Inlet, SC. Also surviving Norm are brother-in-law Grady Straun; several nieces and nephews; and his cat Charlie. Norm was predeceased by his brother David Mailhot, sister Gail Straun, and his beloved dog Harley.

Aligned to Norm's wishes, a memorial will be private. Norm's friends and family would like to thank Tidewell Hospice for their amazing care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Tidewell Hospice Foundation of Sarasota, Florida.
