PACE, FL — Octave Pierre "Frenchy" Gautreaux, Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2026 at the age of 91.
Frenchy was born on August 25, 1934, in Duson, Louisiana. Son of Lillian and Pierre Gautreaux. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years and while stationed in Sasebo, Japan, he met the love of his life, Toshiko. They shared 67 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, perseverance, and a deep commitment to family. Together, they raised four daughters: Lilly, Theresa, Debra, and Diana.
Following his military service, Frenchy continued his service to the nation by working for many years as a government civilian. Known for his strong work ethic, humility, and reliability, he took great pride in providing for his family and contributing quietly and faithfully to the mission he served.
Outside of work, Frenchy had a lifelong love of music and especially enjoyed playing the guitar—a simple joy that brought him peace and contentment throughout his life.
Frenchy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Toshiko Gautreaux, his parents, Lillian and Octave Gautreaux, and his siblings Russell Gautreaux, Johnny Gautreaux and Edwin Gautreaux.
He is survived by his daughters Lilly Gautreaux; Theresa Stevens (Mike Stevens); Debra Clarke (Dave Clarke); and Diana Gautreaux; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; Joanna Warren, Travis Page, Oaklee Warren, Olivia Warren, Cooper Warren, Jacob Clarke, Ashley Stevens, and Elena Rozzi; He is also survived by his siblings, Harry Gautreaux, Jean Breaux, Marlene Duhon, nephew Russell Gautreaux (Lavinia Gautreaux), along with many extended family members, and friends who will miss him deeply.
A private family service will be held at Fort Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida, where Frenchy will be laid to rest with military honors.
The family takes comfort in knowing that Frenchy is now at peace, reunited with his beloved wife, and resting in God's eternal care.
