Odette Ouellette Dakin

Odette Ouellette Dakin (“Dee”), 88, of Smithville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born on July 28, 1937, to Joseph and Elise Ouellette.
Dee’s greatest legacy was her deep love for family and her gift for making everyone feel welcome in her home and in her life. She found immense joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Dawn Todd (Gary), Dean Dakin (Sherry), and Dwayne Dakin; her grandchildren: Danielle Bichelmeyer (Jordan), Nikole Todd, Alex Todd (Adora), Stephanie Dakin (Bryant Baker), Jordan Rash (Jarrett), and Reghan Edwards (Trenton); and her great-grandchildren: Daxton, Jolene, Eloise, and Archie Bichelmeyer; Leah and Lily Todd; Adalyn and Brylee Baker; Peyton and Kendall Rash; and Kora Williams and Ace Edwards.
Dee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Ralph Dakin, and her great-granddaughter, Eloise Dawn Bichelmeyer.
A memorial service will be held at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa on April 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM. A private burial will take place at Leavenworth National Cemetery on April 24, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dee’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
