Oliver Dickins

1941 - 2025

Oliver B. Dickins, Jr., age 84, passed away on November 24, 2025. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Oliver made his home over the years in Marietta, Georgia; Simsbury, Connecticut; and, most recently, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He now joins his beloved wife, Susan Engle Dickins. He is survived by his son, Andrew Dickins; his daughter, Deborah Dickins Bolzan (Bruno); his grandchildren, Elliott, Lucie, Zoe, Sharlee and Lakelyn, as well as his cherished sister, Cissie Molinaro Robinson.

A true Southern gentleman, Oliver was known for his warmth, wit, and charm. He possessed an extraordinary command of history, politics, and current events, and he loved nothing more than a lively conversation on any of those subjects. Oliver earned degrees in physics and law from Rhodes College, the University of Alabama, and the University of Virginia, and he devoted his career to the practice of law.

Oliver will be remembered for his expansive mind. He was a voracious reader, and a truly supportive person with a great ability to engage people and build lasting relationships. He had a way of walking up to strangers - and never walking away from strangers. He also ran eight marathons and never met a food or wine he didn't like!

Services will be held at Oklahoma Cremation & Funeral Home in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, December 2. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Simsbury Historical Society, in memory of Oliver, one of its most illustrious presidents. A memorial celebrating Oliver's life will be held at a later date in 2026.

Oliver's legacy of curiosity and kindness will continue to guide all those who loved him.
