Oneida Blakely age 70 of Gary,In passed away on February 23, 2026, she peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and unconditional love.
She was an honor student at West Side High School, where her dedication to her studies reflected her strong character and discipline. She later attended Indiana State University, majoring in Business Management.
Oneida embraced life's simple pleasures with enthusiasm and creativity. She found joy in bowling, challenging her mind with Scrabble and crossword puzzles, and expressing herself through coloring and painting. Whether engaged in friendly competition or quiet reflection, she brought thoughtfulness and focus to all she did. She especially cherished gatherings with family and friends, where her warm presence, gentle laughter, and calm spirit made everyone feel welcomed and loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepson, Melvin Blakely Jr.; her adopted daughter, Tante Robinson; and her beloved family members Roberta Rancifer and Debra Jones. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her husband Melvin T. Blakely, her twin sons, Josiah Blakely and Joel Blakely; her stepchildren, Derrick (Inita) Blakely, Tana Blakely, Kerry Johnson, Terry (Janice) Johnson, LaWanda Blakely, Armondo (Karemia) Blakely, Daniel (Nichole) Blakely, and Carl (Tameshia) Blakely; her sister, Amy Pace; and a host of devoted brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and dear friends whose lives were richly blessed by her presence.
