Pamela Theresa "Pam" Galion, 71, passed away on February 1, 2026, in Downers Grove, Illinois, with family and friends by her side. A longtime resident of Westmont, Illinois, Pam was known for her curiosity, sharp wit, and enduring friendships.

Born on February 27, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, Pam developed a lifelong love for learning and exploration that shaped her personal and widely-varied professional journey. She pursued higher education with determination and innovation, graduating from the first class of remote learners at the University of Illinois. There she earned a master’s degree in library and information science, dedicating the last part of her career to the West Chicago Public Library, where she worked for several years before retiring.

In her twenties and thirties, Pam embraced adventure through cycling, riding her bike across the Midwest with enthusiasm and independence. Her passion for travel extended beyond solo journeys; she loved road trips with friends, aunts, and uncles, which they all cherished deeply.

Pam also found joy in everyday connections. For many years, she was a familiar face at the Forest View Lounge—a place she considered her home away from home—where she maintained valued friendships with both regulars and newcomers alike. Her friendly nature and willingness to share ideas made her a beloved presence wherever she went.

At home in Westmont, Pam shared her life with Emma, her (mostly) beloved cat. Their care for each other brought comfort and joy throughout the years.

Pam's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her—from family members who shared adventures with her to friends who found camaraderie in conversation. May her memory bring comfort to all who were touched by her presence.

Pam's ashes will be placed in accordance with her wishes in the late spring, followed by a celebration of her life and the gifts she shared with us over the years.
