Pamela Kay "Cinders" Hughes (née Polgar), age 76, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at Malachi House in Cleveland, Ohio, surrounded by love and care. Born on November 3, 1949, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Pamela lived a life marked by resilience, adventure, and an unwavering spirit.

Pamela was the beloved daughter of Ralph and Annelee Polgar, who preceded her in death. She was also reunited in passing with the love of her life and husband, Richard Hughes. Together, Pamela and Richard shared a deep bond that was evident to all who knew them. They cherished their time fishing and camping at their camp in Pennsylvania—a place filled with laughter and memories that brought them immense joy.

Pamela's life was one of remarkable strength. Over the years, she faced numerous health challenges with courage and determination. She survived multiple brain tumors, colorectal cancer, atrial fibrillation requiring a pacemaker, and a heart attack that led to a triple bypass surgery. Despite these trials, Pamela's indomitable spirit shone through as she defied the odds time and again. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on January 17, 2025, she was given six months to live but exceeded expectations by fighting valiantly for an additional year. Her final wish was to forego further invasive treatments and surgeries so she could join her beloved Richard.

Pamela’s last year was filled with unforgettable moments and adventures. Though she had always refused to fly, her daughter Amanda convinced her to take one final trip to Florida—a "last hoorah" that became a cherished memory. While there, Pamela visited SeaWorld Orlando, reconnected with a dear friend, and experienced the wonder of seeing newborn dolphins in the wild during a dolphin cruise. Amanda also organized a surprise party to celebrate Pamela’s 76th birthday—a joyous occasion that brought together family and friends to honor her incredible life.

Pamela is survived by her devoted daughter Amanda (Mark) Harbath; grandchildren Bill Harbath and Maggie Harbath (John Trumble); great-grandchild Violet Harbath; bonus great-grandchildren Aleigha Lade and Lyra Berzins; brother Gary (Helen) Polgar; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pamela's name to two organizations close to her heart: Lake Humane Society (7564 Tyler Blvd Unit E Mentor, OH 44060) or Dream Foundation (www.dreamfoundation.org).

Pamela Kay "Cinders" Hughes will be remembered for her tenacity, love of adventure, and the profound impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her. May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her as they celebrate a life well-lived. A Memorial Service will be held on April 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Fowlers Mills Church 10755 Mayfield Rd . Family and friends may gather from 10-11Am with the service starting at 11AM
